Animal Architects
OPTION 1:
June 17th, 18th, 20th • 9am-12pm
*Note: no camp on June 19th
OPTION 2:
July 17th-19th • 9am-12pm
$150 • Completed Grades K-2 • For All
About: There are architects all around us, and not all of them have opposable thumbs! Experience the world through the eyes of animals in our backyard and beyond. Discover the ways animals build their habitats and spend a camp day building some of your own. When we use our exciting tools to build like the animals around us, you might just find out that we’re not so different after all.
Note: Both June & July camps will include roughly the same content.
Middle School Invention Lab
June 24th-28th • 9am - 2pm
$350 • Completed Grades 6-8 • For All
About: During this special experience, WMSI campers will have the opportunity to create, invent, and innovate their community in many rich and diverse ways! Learn how the exciting tools in the Inventors Toolbox can help us design clever solutions to some of our biggest community challenges. We’ll experiment with LASER cutting, circuitry, robotics, and computer-aided design (CAD) to prototype and test our own exciting design ideas, and have a whole lot of fun doing it!
Game Design Camp
July 15th-19th • 9am - 2pm
$350 • Completed Grades 3-6 • For All
About: Expand your horizons of homemade game design with this exciting camp! We will focus on brainstorming your game, gathering skills and materials, building game infrastructure and testing with your peers. Projects involve a mix of coding, crafting, and basic robotics. We’ll make use of the Engineering Design Cycle and Project-Based Learning techniques to structure this time, and promote self-motivated discovery. We hope that every participant will come away with an expanded sense of what they can create and a brand new game to play with friends and family!
Planes, Trains & Automobiles
OPTION 1:
July 1st-3rd • 9am-12pm
OPTION 2:
July 31st-Aug 2nd • 9am-12pm
$150 • Completed Grades K-2 •
For All
About: Navigate the world of transportation with WMSI through this exciting camp experience. Campers will learn how we can travel safely and efficiently, and build modes of travel for themselves. Engineer everything from robots to repurposed material, and discover all the ways we travel from place to place.
Note: Both July & August camps will include roughly the same content.
Inventing Through Time
August 5th-9th • 9am - 2pm
$350 • Completed Grades 3-6 • For All
About: Humans have always been engineering, and some technology is older than you think. We didn’t always have computers to help us invent, but we always have gravity, and still do! Explore the ways inventions have changed through time and still impact our world today, building some of your own along the way.
Coding Creatures
June 17th-18th, 20th-21st • 9am - 2pm
*Note: no camp on June 19th
$280 • Completed Grades 3-6 • For All
About: It’s alive (in code, that is!) Learn how to transform pixels and code into your very own virtual creatures. Join us for Coding Creatures camp to explore the powerful world of programming, and how we can use it to bring our imaginations to life. We’ll focus on the block-based coding environment Scratch, an accessible entryway for translating from our imagination to the computer screen. Share ideas and inspiration with your peers as we unlock our potential to tell stories, build fun environments, and create art through software.
Minecraft Camp
July 1st-3rd • 9am - 2pm
$210 • Completed Grades 3-6 • For All
About: During Minecraft camp, we’ll be exploring one of our favorite gaming worlds both on and off the computer! Within the Minecraft platform we’ll design, build, play games, and even explore the possibilities of coding within the game. We’ll also take Minecraft out into the physical world with Minecraft-inspired engineering challenges, using our maker tools, such as laser cutting and robotics kits.
Inventors Camp for Girls and Non-Binary Youth
July 8th-12th • 9am - 2pm
$350 • Completed Grades 3-6 • For All Girls/Non-Binary
About: Problem-solving can utilize a wide variety of tools and techniques. During this camp experience, we’ll explore some of the more innovative tools that can help us engineer creatively-designed solutions to real-world problems. From interactive robotics to 3D printing to popsicle sticks and glue, variety is the word to describe our Maker Camp projects. We’ll continue our exploration of Novel Engineering, where we use these Maker tools to cleverly design, build, and test solutions for our favorite story characters.
Making Music with Robotics
July 22nd-26th • 9am - 2pm
$350 • Completed Grades 3-6 • For All
About: What do rock stars and robots have in common? Both can make music! Explore your inner musician AND engineer at the same time as we dive into what makes fun music, and piece together machines and rhythm. We’ll explore the physical components of instruments and machines, as well as dive into the programming that can turn our machines into musicians. No previous robotics experience required!
