Amanda Carron

Amanda grew up in western Massachusetts where she found a passion for teaching environmental and experiential education during her undergraduate years. Following college, Amanda pursued many educational opportunities from Cape Cod as an AmeriCorps member leader; to Washington along the Puget Sound as an outdoor and environmental education instructor; then Idaho to further her graduate education; and then back to Cape Cod where she took on a leadership role at a residential YMCA camp as the outdoor education coordinator. She also briefly did a second AmeriCorps assignment as a member of the Lakes Region Conservation Corps along Squam Lake in New Hampshire.

As Associate Director of Programs, Amanda is excited to continue WMSI’s legacy of growing creative problem solvers by managing WMSI’s Mobile STEM Lab, WMSI’s Summer Camp program, and beyond! Outside of WMSI, Amanda enjoys all forms of photosynthesizing in the sunshine including hiking, XC skiing, rock climbing, and snowboarding. She’s also been known to love reading, spending time with cats, sending postcards, and performing in community theatre.

Amanda has a BS in Movement Science, Sport, and Leisure Studies with a concentration in Wilderness Leadership, and a minor in Environmental Science from Westfield State University; and a MS in Natural Resources with a certificate in Environmental Education from the University of Idaho and McCall Outdoor Science School.
