Job Description:  White Mountain Science, Inc. (WMSI - pronounced ‘whimsy’), develops and delivers highly engaging and fun STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) programs with the goal of teaching creative problem solving to students and teachers. The primary responsibilities of the Program Coordinator involve the logistics and facilitation of off-site youth programs at regional schools, which will include time as an instructor running STEM programs for students up to 3-4 days/week in North Country New Hampshire locations. This position involves an active role in lesson prep, driving a large van to over 15 different locations within 1.5 hours of base, working with school teachers to provide quality afterschool STEM education for 3rd-6th graders, and mentoring high school students in an effort to train them as assistant instructors in all of your lessons. To a lesser extent, this position involves creation and facilitation of on-site programs at WMSI’s makerspace. White Mountain Science is a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Littleton, NH.


Duties Will Include:

  • Facilitation of off-site and on-site STEM youth programs

  • Administration of off-site and on-site STEM youth programs

  • Fostering professional relationships with partner schools

  • Organization & maintenance of program-related resources & equipment

  • Development of youth program curriculum 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be motivated and self-directed

  • Completion of post-secondary degree - preferred

  • Prior leadership experience in a professional setting - preferred

  • 2-3 years experience working with youth - essential

  • 1-2 years experience instructing youth in an educational setting - preferred

  • Prior science, technology, engineering, and/or math training - preferred

  • Strong communication and organization skills 

  • A flexible team player who is willing to learn from mistakes and adapt

  • Ability to support and empower students in the creative process

  • Ability to set a positive environment within a room 

  • Motivated to improve as an instructor and facilitate new material

  • Comfortable driving a van long distances safely in variable weather conditions


Schedule:

  • Full time position

  • Able to facilitate off-site programs in the after-school timeframe

Physical Exertion Environmental Conditions:  Required to sit for extended periods of time, stand frequently, use fine motor skills to operate equipment, and lift and/or move 40 pounds or less.
