Job Description:  White Mountain Science (WMSI pronounced ‘whimsy’), develops and delivers highly engaging and fun STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) programs with the goal of teaching creative problem solving to students, teachers, and after school youth. WMSI part time instructors assist/run 1-3 hour educational STEM programs for students in North Country New Hampshire locations. This position involves an active role in lesson prep, driving a large van to up to 12 different locations within 1.5 hours of base, working with school teachers to provide quality afterschool STEM education for 3rd-6th graders, and mentoring highschool students in an effort to train them as assistant instructors in all of your lessons. The position also includes office hours spent organizing teaching materials, designing new lessons, and creating documentation for future instructors. White Mountain Science is a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Bethlehem, NH.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be motivated and self-directed

  • Completion of post secondary degree a plus

  • Prior science, technology, engineering, or math training - a plus

  • Interest and experience instructing kids - essential

  • Strong communication/organization skills

  • Looking for a team player who is willing to learn from mistakes

  • Ability to adapt quickly and be flexible

  • Ability to support and empower students in the creative process

  • Ability to set a positive environment within a room

  • Motivated to improve as an instructor and facilitate new material

Physical Exertion Environmental Conditions:  Required to sit for extended periods of time, stand frequently, use fine motor skills to operate equipment, and lift and/or move 25 pounds or less.
