Curious about 3D printing? Learn the basics of 3D modeling and printing while turning one of your favorite photos into a glowing 3D-printed lithophane!
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to turn your favorite photo into a lithophane—a 3D printed image that reveals its details when backlit. We’ll walk you through the process of converting a photo into a printable 3D file, preparing it in slicing software, and setting up your print for success.
Along the way, we’ll explore how 3D printing can be used in creative and functional ways, and how it can be combined with other tools to take your projects even further. Whether you’re new to 3D printing or looking to expand your skills, this project is a unique and satisfying way to learn the basics.
Please come with a digital photo on your phone that you’d like to print, or email it to lkresin@whitemountainscience.org.
