Job Description
WMSI is seeking an enthusiastic problem-solver to develop and deliver technical and engaging programs to northern New England! The Makerspace Education Coordinator position is primarily focused on the delivery of technical programs to high school students and adults. The Makerspace Education Coordinator will strategize with WMSI staff and external stakeholders to identify the skills of greatest need in the development of the local workforce, and develop enrichment programs to meet those needs. Program content and themes could include (but are not limited to): engineering, technology, computer science, inquiry-based science, and craftsmanship. The Makerspace Education Coordinator would also engage the emerging workforce of high school students, through both established WMSI programs and new programmatic approaches. The Makerspace Education Coordinator will play a key role in the evaluation and refinement of any newly-developed programs. While many of the programs will take place at WMSI’s Makerspace in Littleton, a percentage of programs will be delivered off-site at local schools and community facilities.
Duties Will Include
Development and facilitation of technical STEM-based programs for high school students and adults, primarily on-site at WMSI’s Makerspace in Littleton
Communications with external partners and program collaborators
Training and mentorship of supporting instructors
Management of WMSI’s high school internship program
Organization and maintenance of program & curriculum resources
Management and growth of makerspace assets, such as: 3D printers, LASER cutters, CNC machines, electrical components, IoT networks, etc.
Development and implementation of thorough safety protocols related to the use of makerspace tools and equipment
Management of additional resources, budgets, and schedules for an array of programs
Development and delivery of technical trainings for WMSI staff
Development and implementation of feedback loops for evaluation and improvement of newly-developed programs
Planning and facilitation of teacher coaching and professional development workshops
A plus but not required - maintenance of WMSI’s devices and networks
Qualifications
Completion of post-secondary degree or equivalent experience in: science, engineering, computer science, and/or secondary education, or related fields
Experience with fabrication using a variety of makerspace tools, including 3D printers (and CAD), LASER cutters, CNC machines, electrical components, IoT networks, ideally in an educational setting
Programming skills in languages such as Python or Java - a plus
Knowledge of safety protocols related to makerspace equipment and activities
At least 2-3 years experience working with adults or youth in an educational setting
Experience in managing projects involving stakeholders across various departments

Strong communication and organization skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges that may arise in a makerspace environment
A flexible team player who is willing to learn from mistakes and adapt
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
During non-programmatic time, the position will be based in a routine office environment/WMSI’s makerspace.
During program time, the position will include programs with students in WMSI’s makerspace, and surrounding schools/community facilities.
Able to lift/maneuver up to 40 pounds on occasion; and at varying heights.
Many programs will take place on nights and weekends
Occasional use of personal vehicle required for transportation to/from programs
Position Details
Full time exempt position.
Benefits include health insurance, 401K retirement plan with up to 3% salary match, vacation, holidays, sick time, and professional development stipend.
Fully on-site position, with travel required for off-site programs
Compensation
Competitive salary commensurate with level of relevant experience, with a starting range of $45,000 - $50,000.
